A program developed by Apple, available free for Mac users, that is said to rival Microsoft Word in functionality and ease of use

An Overview Of Pages

Mac and PC have been battling for years in the mainstream, with each having very strong points and better programs. For a long time, PC has won out with MS Word, but Apple's Pages for Mac is said to rival that program in every way, while providing a few bonuses.

Pages has been around for quite a while, so it's not some new program to the scene. However, not a whole lot of Mac users actually have the program. This is because Apple doesn't really advertise it, though the people who do use it sing its praises. It's available for free and is currently on version 7.3.

What Pages Is and What It Does

Around six years ago, Apple rolled out its OS X Mavericks edition, which included a highly updated version of Pages that was pretty much designed to be a direct competitor for MS Word. To that end, Apple gave it a new interface, more powerful editing features, and much more.

Pages isn't anything fancy when you break it down. It is only a word processing program, but it was incredibly bare bones for the longest time. Now it has tons of options, like the ability to format properly with photos and links, plus the ability to format a PDF, like an eBook or other document that will be read on a reader.

Features of Pages

While the program does not yet have a grammar and syntax checker like MS Word, it does have an updated spellchecker system and a lot of different formatting tools, like indexing, bullets, numbered lists, annotations, and more. Instead of being like a glorified notepad, Pages is now a true utility for writers.

Overall, its best feature may be its attractive layout that's incredibly easy to navigate and use. With Word, you can get lost in all the options shoved up at the top. Pages really provides a much more user-friendly interface that allows users to navigate a lot easier.
